Ἄλεξις δʼ ἐν Ἀσωτοδιδασκάλῳ, φησὶ Σωτίων Ἀλεξανδρεὺς ἐν τοῖς περὶ τῶν Τίμωνος σίλλων· (ἐγὼ γὰρ οὐκ ἀπήντησα τῷ δράματι· πλείονα τῆς μέσης καλουμένης κωμῳδίας ἀναγνοὺς δράματα τῶν ὀκτακοσίων καὶ τούτων ἐκλογὰς ποιησάμενος οὐ περιέτυχον τῷ Ἀσωτοδιδασκάλῳ, ἀλλʼ οὐδʼ ἀναγραφῆς ἀξιωθέν τινι σύνοιδα· οὔτε γὰρ Καλλίμαχος οὔτε Ἀριστοφάνης αὐτὸ ἀνέγραψαν, ἀλλʼ οὐδʼ οἱ τὰς ἐν Περγάμῳ ἀναγραφὰς ποιησάμενοι) δὲ Σωτίων φησὶν ἐν τῷ δράματι Ξανθίαν τινὰ οἰκέτην πεποιῆσθαι προτρεπόμενον ἐπὶ ἡδυπάθειαν ὁμοδούλους ἑαυτοῦ καὶ λέγοντα· τί ταῦτα ληρεῖς, φληναφῶν ἄνω κάτω Λύκειον, Ἀκαδήμειαν, Ὠιδείου πύλας, λήρους σοφιστῶν; οὐδὲ ἓν τούτων καλόν. πίνωμεν, ἐμπίνωμεν, Σίκων, Σίκων, χαίρωμεν, ἕως ἔνεστι τὴν ψυχὴν τρέφειν. τύρβαζε, Μάνη· γαστρὸς οὐδὲν ἥδιον. αὕτη πατήρ σοι καὶ πάλιν μήτηρ μόνη. ἀρεταὶ δὲ πρεσβεῖαί τε καὶ στρατηγίαι κόμποι κενὰ ψοφοῦντες ἀντʼ ὀνειράτων. ψύξει σε δαίμων τῷ πεπρωμένῳ χρόνῳ· ἕξεις δʼ ὅσʼ ἂν φάγῃς τε καὶ πίῃς μόνα· σποδὸς δὲ τἄλλα, Περικλέης, Κόδρος, Κίμων.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
