καὶ μαγείρων μὲν ἅλις· περὶ δὲ τοῦ γόγγρου λεκτέον. Ἀρχέστρατος μὲν γὰρ ἐν τῇ Γαστρονομίᾳ καὶ ὁπόθεν ἕκαστον μέρος αὐτοῦ δεῖ συνωνεῖσθαι διηγεῖται οὕτως· γόγγρου μὲν γὰρ ἔχεις κεφαλήν, φίλος, ἐν Σικυῶνι πίονος, ἰσχυροῦ, μεγάλου καὶ πάντα τὰ κοῖλα· εἶτα χρόνον πολὺν ἕψε χλόῃ περίπαστον ἐν ἅλμῃ· ἑξῆς τε περὶ τῶν κατʼ Ἰταλίαν τόπων διεξιὼν πάλιν καλὸς οὗτος περιηγητής φησιν· καὶ γόγγρος σπουδαῖος ἁλίσκεται, ὥστε τοσοῦτον τῶν ἄλλων πάντων ὄψων κρατεῖ οὗτος ὅσον περ θύννος πιότατος τῶν φαυλοτάτων κορακίνων. Ἄλεξις ἐν Ἑπτὰ ἐπὶ Θήβαις· γόγγρου δʼ ὁμοῦ σωρευτὰ πιμελῆς μέλη ὑπεργέμοντα. Ἀρχέδικος δʼ ἐν Θησαυρῷ παράγει τινὰ μάγειρον λέγοντα, περὶ ὧν ὠψώνηκεν αὐτός· δραχμῶν τριῶν γλαυκίσκον .......... γόγγρου κεφαλὴν καὶ τὰ πρῶτα τεμάχια δραχμῶν πάλιν πέντʼ· ταλαιπώρου βίου. δραχμῆς τραχήλους· ἀλλὰ νὴ τὸν ἥλιον, κἀμοὶ τράχηλον ἕτερον εἴ ποθεν λαβεῖν ἦν καὶ πρίασθαι δυνατόν, ὃν ἔχω τοῦτον ἂν πρὶν εἰσενεγκεῖν ταῦτα δεῦρʼ ἀπηγξάμην· οὐθεὶς δεδιακόνηκεν ἐπιπονώτερον. ἅμα μὲν πρίασθαι πολλὰ καὶ πολλοῦ σφόδρα, ἅμα δʼ εἴ τι χρηστὸν ἀγοράσαιμʼ, ἀπωλλύμην. κατέδοντʼ ἐκεῖνοι, τοῦτο πρὸς ἐμαυτὸν λέγω, διαπυτιοῦσʼ οἶνον δὲ τοιοῦτον χαμαί. οἴμοι.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
