τί δεῖ πρὸς τούτοις ἔτι παρατίθεσθαι τὰ ἐκ Ταγηνιστῶν τοῦ χαρίεντος Ἀριστοφάνους ; πάντες γὰρ τῆς καταχήνης αὐτοῦ πλήρεις ἐστέ. τῶν δὲ Μεταγένους ἐκ Θουριοπερσῶν μνημονεύσας καταπαύσω τὸν λόγον, μακρὰ χαίρειν εἰπὼν ταῖς Νικοφῶντος Σειρῆσιν, ἐν αἷς τάδε γέγραπται· νιφέτω μὲν ἀλφίτοις, ψακαζέτω δʼ ἄρτοισιν, ὑέτω δʼ ἔτνει, ζωμὸς διὰ τῶν ὁδῶν κυλινδείτω κρέα, πλακοῦς ἑαυτὸν ἐσθίειν κελευέτω. ἀλλʼ γε Μεταγένης τάδε φησίν· μὲν ποταμὸς Κρᾶθις ἡμῖν καταφέρει μάζας μεγίστας αὐτομάτας μεμαγμένας, δʼ ἕτερος ὠθεῖ κῦμα ναστῶν καὶ κρεῶν ἑφθῶν τε βατίδων εἰλυομένων αὐτόσε· τὰ δὲ μικρὰ ταυτὶ ποτάμιʼ ἐνμεντευθενὶ ῥεῖ τευθίσιν ὀπταῖς καὶ φάγροις καὶ καράβοις, ἐντευθενὶ δʼ ἀλλᾶσι καὶ περικόμμασι, τῃδὶ δʼ ἀφύαισι, τῇδε δʼ αὖ ταγηνίαις. τεμάχη δʼ ἄνωθεν αὐτόματα πεπνιγμένα εἰς τὸ στόμʼ ᾄττει, τὰ δὲ παρʼ αὐτὼ τὼ πόδε. ἄμυλοι δὲ περινέουσιν ἡμῖν ἐν κύκλῳ. οἶδα δὲ ὅτι καὶ οἱ Θουριοπέρσαι καὶ τὸ τοῦ Νικοφῶντος δρᾶμα ἀδίδακτά ἐστι, διόπερ καὶ τελευταίων αὐτῶν ἐμνήσθην.

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
