καὶ Δημήτριος δʼ Πολιορκητὴς φιλόγελως ἦν, ὡς ἱστορεῖ Φύλαρχος ἐν τῇ δεκάτῃ τῶν ἱστοριῶν ἐν δὲ τῇ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτῃ γράφει οὕτως· περιεώρα Δημήτριος τοὺς κολακεύοντας αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς συμποσίοις καὶ ἐπιχεομένους Δημητρίου μὲν μόνου βασιλέως, Πτολεμαίου δὲ μόνου ναυάρχου, Λυσιμάχου δὲ γαζοφύλακος, Σελεύκου δʼ ἐλεφαντάρχου. καὶ ταῦτα αὐτῷ οὐ τὸ τυχὸν συνῆγε μῖσος. Ἡρόδοτος δέ φησιν Ἄμασιν Αἰγυπτίων βασιλέα παιγνιήμονα ἐόντα σκώπτειν τοὺς συμπότας, καὶ ὅτε ἰδιώτης, φησίν, ἦν, φιλοπότης ὑπῆρχε καὶ φιλοσκώμμων καὶ οὐ κατεσπουδασμένος ἀνήρ. Νικόλαος δʼ ἐν τῇ ἑβδόμῃ καὶ ἑκατοστῇ τῶν ἱστοριῶν Σύλλαν φησὶ τὸν Ῥωμαίων στρατηγὸν οὕτω χαίρειν μίμοις καὶ γελωτοποιοῖς φιλόγελων γενόμενον, ὡς καὶ πολλὰ γῆς μέτρα αὐτοῖς χαρίζεσθαι τῆς δημοσίας. ἐμφανίζουσι δʼ αὐτοῦ τὸ περὶ ταῦτα ἱλαρὸν αἱ ὑπʼ αὐτοῦ γραφεῖσαι σατυρικαὶ κωμῳδίαι τῇ πατρίῳ φωνῇ.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
