οἱ δὲ μόθακες καλούμενοι παρὰ Λακεδαιμονίοις ἐλεύθεροι μέν εἰσιν, οὐ μὴν Λακεδαιμόνιοι. λέγει δὲ περὶ αὐτῶν Φύλαρχος ἐν τῇ πέμπτῃ καὶ εἰκοστῇ τῶν ἱστοριῶν οὕτως· εἰσὶ δʼ οἱ μόθακες σύντροφοι τῶν Λακεδαιμονίων· ἕκαστος γὰρ τῶν πολιτικῶν παίδων ὡς ἂν καὶ τὰ ἴδια ἐκποιῶσιν οἳ μὲν ἕνα, οἳ δὲ δύο, τινὲς δὲ πλείους ποιοῦνται συντρόφους αὑτῶν. εἰσὶν οὖν οἱ μόθακες ἐλεύθεροι μέν, οὐ μὴν Λακεδαιμόνιοί γε, μετέχουσιν δὲ τῆς παιδείας πάσης. τούτων ἕνα φασὶ γενέσθαι καὶ Λύσανδρον τὸν καταναυμαχήσαντα τοὺς Ἀθηναίους πολίτην γενόμενον διʼ ἀνδραγαθίαν. Μύρων δὲ Πριηνεὺς ἐν δευτέρῳ Μεσσηνιακῶν πολλάκις, φησίν, ἠλευθέρωσαν Λακεδαιμόνιοι δούλους καὶ οὓς μὲν ἀφέτας ἐκάλεσαν, οὓς δὲ ἀδεσπότους, οὓς δὲ ἐρυκτῆρας, δεσποσιοναύτας δʼ ἄλλους, οὓς εἰς τοὺς στόλους κατέτασσον, ἄλλους δὲ νεοδαμώδεις ἑτέρους ὄντας τῶν εἱλώτων. Θεόπομπος δʼ ἐν ζʹ Ἑλληνικῶν περὶ τῶν εἱλώτων λέγων ὅτι καὶ ἑλεάται καλοῦνται γράφει οὕτως· τὸ δὲ τῶν εἱλώτων ἔθνος παντάπασιν ὠμῶς διάκειται καὶ πικρῶς· εἰσὶ γὰρ οὗτοι καταδεδουλωμένοι πολὺν ἤδη χρόνον ὑπὸ τῶν Σπαρτιατῶν, οἳ μὲν αὐτῶν ἐκ Μεσσήνης ὄντες, οἱ δʼ ἑλεάται κατοικοῦντες πρότερον τὸ καλούμενον Ἕλος τῆς Λακωνικῆς.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
