Λυκέας δʼ ἐν τοῖς Αἰγυπτιακοῖς προκρίνων τὰ Αἰγυπτιακὰ δεῖπνα τῶν Περσικῶν Αἰγυπτίων ἐπιστρατευσάντων, φησίν, ἐπὶ Ὦχον τὸν Περσῶν βασιλέα καὶ νικηθέντων ἐπεὶ ἐγένετο αἰχμάλωτος τῶν Αἰγυπτίων βασιλεύς, Ὦχος αὐτὸν φιλανθρώπως ἄγων ἐκάλεσε καὶ ἐπὶ δεῖπνον. τῆς οὖν παρασκευῆς γενομένης λαμπρᾶς Αἰγύπτιος κατεγέλα ὡς εὐτελῶς τοῦ Πέρσου διαιτωμένου. εἰ δὲ θέλεις εἰδέναι, ἔφη, βασιλεῦ, πῶς δεῖ σιτεῖσθαι τοὺς εὐδαίμονας βασιλέας, ἐπίτρεψον τοῖς ἐμοῖς ποτε γενομένοις μαγείροις παρασκευάσαι σοι Αἰγύπτιον δεῖπνον. καὶ κελεύσαντος ἐπεὶ παρεσκευάσθη, ἡσθεὶς Ὦχος τῷ δείπνῳ κακὸν κακῶς σε, ἔφη, Αἰγύπτιε, ἀπολέσειαν οἱ θεοί, ὅστις δεῖπνα τοιαῦτα καταλιπὼν ἐπεθύμησας θοίνης εὐτελεστέρας. τίνα δʼ ἦν τὰ Αἰγύπτια δεῖπνα Πρωταγορίδης ἐν τῷ αʹ περὶ Δαφνικῶν ἀγώνων διδάσκει ἡμᾶς λέγων οὕτως· τρίτη δέ ἐστιν ἰδέα δείπνων Αἰγυπτιακὴ τραπεζῶν μὲν οὐ παρατιθεμένων, πινάκων δὲ περιφερομένων.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
