εἰς ταῦτα ἔστιν ἀποβλέποντας τὰ ὑπὲρ ἡμᾶς ἀγαπᾶν τὴν Ἑλληνικὴν πενίαν, λαμβάνοντας πρὸ ὀφθαλμῶν καὶ τὰ παρὰ Θηβαίοις δεῖπνα, περὶ ὧν Κλείταρχος ἐν τῇ πρώτῃ τῶν περὶ Ἀλέξανδρον ἱστοριῶν, διηγούμενος καὶ ὅτι πᾶς αὐτῶν πλοῦτος ηὑρέθη μετὰ τὴν ὑπʼ Ἀλεξάνδρου τῆς πόλεως κατασκαφὴν ἐν ταλάντοις τετρακοσίοις τεσσαράκοντα, φησὶν ὅτι τε μικρόψυχοι ἦσαν καὶ τὰ περὶ τὴν τροφὴν λίχνοι, παρασκευάζοντες ἐν τοῖς δείπνοις θρῖα καὶ ἑψητοὺς καὶ ἀφύας καὶ ἐγκρασιχόλους καὶ ἀλλᾶντας καὶ σχελίδας καὶ ἔτνος· οἷσι Μαρδόνιον εἱστίασε μετὰ τῶν ἄλλων πεντήκοντα Περσῶν Ἀτταγῖνος Φρύνωνος, ὅν φησιν Ἡρόδοτος ἐν τῇ ἐνάτῃ μεγάλως πλούτῳ παρεσκευάσθαι. ἡγοῦμαι δʼ ὅτι οὐκ ἂν περιεγένοντο οὐδʼ ἂν ἐδέησε τοῖς Ἕλλησι περὶ Πλαταιὰς παρατάττεσθαι ἀπολωλόσιν ἤδη ὑπὸ τῶν τοιούτων τροφῶν.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
