ΜΥΚΑΙ. Ἀριστίας· μύκαισι δʼ ὠρέχθει τὸ λάινον πέδον. Πολίοχος· μεμαγμένην μικρὰν μελαγχρῆ μᾶζαν ἠχυρωμένην ἑκάτερος ἡμῶν εἶχε δὶς τῆς ἡμέρας καὶ σῦκα βαιά· καὶ μύκης τις ἐνίοτʼ ἂν ὠπτᾶτο καὶ κοχλίας γενομένου ψακαδίου ἠγρεύετʼ ἂν καὶ λάχανα τῶν αὐτοχθόνων θλαστή τʼ ἐλαία, καὶ πιεῖν οἰνάριον ἦν ἀμφίβολον. Ἀντιφάνης· τὸ δεῖπνόν ἐστι μᾶζα κεχαρακωμένη ἀχύροις, πρὸς εὐτέλειαν ἐξωπλισμένη, καὶ βολβὸς εἷς τις καὶ παροψίδες τινές, σόγχος τις μύκης τις τοιαῦθʼ δὴ δίδωσιν ἡμῖν τόπος ἄθλιʼ ἀθλίοις. τοιοῦτος βίος, ἀπύρετος, φλέγμʼ οὐκ ἔχων. οὐδεὶς κρέως παρόντος ἐσθίει θύμον, οὐδʼ οἱ δοκοῦντες πυθαγορίζειν. καὶ προελθών· τίς γὰρ οἶδʼ ἡμῶν τὸ μέλλον τι παθεῖν πέπρωθʼ ἑκάστῳ τῶν φίλων; ταχὺ δὴ λαβὼν ὄπτα μύκητας πρινίνους τουσδὶ δύο. ὅτι Κηφισόδωρος Ἰσοκράτους μαθητὴς ἐν τοῖς κατὰ Ἀριστοτέλους (τέσσαρα δʼ ἐστὶ ταῦτα βιβλία) ἐπιτιμᾷ τῷ φιλοσόφῳ ὡς οὐ ποιήσαντι λόγου ἄξιον τὸ παροιμίας ἀθροῖσαι, Ἀντιφάνους ὅλον ποιήσαντος δρᾶμα τὸ ἐπιγραφόμενον Παροιμίαι· ἐξ οὗ καὶ παρατίθεται τάδε· ἐγὼ γὰρ εἰ τῶν ὑμετέρων φάγοιμί τι, μύκητας ὠμοὺς ἂν φαγεῖν ἐμοὶ δοκῶ καὶ στρυφνὰ μῆλα κεἴ τι πνίγει βρῶμά τι.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
