ὅτι δὲ σεμνὸν ἦν μαγειρικὴ μαθεῖν ἔστιν ἐκ τῶν Ἀθήνησι Κηρύκων. οἵδε γὰρ μαγείρων καὶ βουτύπων ἐπεῖχον τάξιν, ὥς φησιν Κλείδημος ἐν Πρωτογονίας πρώτῳ Ὅμηρός τε τὸ ῥέζειν ἐπὶ τοῦ θύειν τάσσει, τὸ δὲ θύειν ἐπὶ τοῦ ψαιστὰ μεταδόρπια θυμιᾶν· καὶ οἱ παλαιοὶ τὸ θύειν δρᾶν ὠνόμαζον. ἔδρων δʼ οἱ Κήρυκες ἄχρι πολλοῦ βουθυτοῦντες, φησί, καὶ σκευάζοντες καὶ μιστύλλοντες, ἔτι δʼ οἰνοχοοῦντες. Κήρυκας δʼ αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ κρείττονος ὠνόμαζον. ἀναγέγραπταί τε οὐδαμοῦ μαγείρῳ μισθός, ἀλλὰ κήρυκι. καὶ Ἀγαμέμνων δὲ παρʼ Ὁμήρῳ θύει βασιλεύων· φησὶ γὰρ ποιητής· καὶ ἀπὸ στομάχους ἀρνῶν τάμε νηλέι χαλκῷ, καὶ τοὺς μὲν κατέθηκεν ἐπὶ χθονὸς ἀσπαίροντας θυμοῦ δευομένους· ἀπὸ γὰρ μένος εἵλετο χαλκός. καὶ Θρασυμήδης τοῦ Νέστορος υἱὸς ἀναλαβὼν πέλεκυν κόπτει τὸν βοῦν, ἐπεὶ διὰ τὸ γῆρας Νέστωρ οὐκ ἠδύνατο· συνεπόνουν δʼ αὐτῷ καὶ οἱ ἄλλοι ἀδελφοί οὕτως ἔνδοξον ἦν καὶ μέγιστον τὸ τῆς μαγειρικῆς τέχνης ἀξίωμα. καὶ παρὰ Ῥωμαίοις δʼ οἱ τιμηταὶ μεγίστη δʼ αὕτη ἀρχὴ τὴν περιπόρφυρον ἐνδεδυκότες καὶ ἐστεφανωμένοι πελέκει τὰ ἱερεῖα κατέβαλλον. οὐ παρέργως δὲ παρὰ τῷ Ὁμήρῳ καὶ τὰ ὅρκια καὶ τὰ ἱερόθυτα κήρυκες κομίζουσιν, ὡς παλαιᾶς οὔσης καὶ προσηκούσης αὐτοῖς τῆς λειτουργίας· Ἕκτωρ δὲ προτὶ ἄστυ δύο κήρυκας ἔπεμπε καρπαλίμως ἄρνας τε φέρειν Πρίαμόν τε καλέσσαι. καὶ πάλιν· αὐτὰρ Ταλθύβιον προίει κρείων Ἀγαμέμνων νῆας ἐπὶ γλαφυρὰς ἰέναι ἠδʼ ἄρνʼ ἐκέλευσεν οἰσέμεναι. καί· Ταλθύβιος δὲ θεῷ ἐναλίγκιος αὐδὴν κάπρον ἔχων ἐν χερσὶ παρίστατο ποιμένι λαῶν.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
