ἐν Ἱππολύτῳ Εὐριπιδείῳ πάλιν Ἀφροδίτη φησίν· ὅσοι τε πόντον τερμόνων τʼ Ἀτλαντικῶν ναίουσιν εἴσω φῶς ὁρῶντες ἡλίου, τοὺς μὲν σέβοντας τἀμὰ πρεσβεύω κράτη, σφάλλω δʼ ὅσοι φρονοῦσιν εἰς ἡμᾶς μέγα. νεανίσκῳ γὰρ τὴν πᾶσαν ἀρετὴν ἔχοντι τοῦτο μόνον τὸ ἁμάρτημα προσόν, ὅτι οὐκ ἐτίμα τὴν Ἀφροδίτην, αἴτιον ἐγένετο τοῦ ὀλέθρου· καὶ οὔτε Ἄρτεμις περισσῶς ἀγαπήσασα οὔτε τῶν ἄλλων θεῶν τις δαιμόνων ἐβοήθησεν αὐτῷ. κατὰ τὸν αὐτὸν οὖν ποιητήν· ὅστις δʼ Ἔρωτα μὴ μόνον κρίνει θεόν, σκαιός ἐστιν καλῶν ἄπειρος ὢν οὐκ οἶδε τὸν μέγιστον ἀνθρώποις θεόν. ὃν σοφὸς ὑμνῶν αἰεί ποτε Ἀνακρέων πᾶσίν ἐστιν διὰ στόματος. λέγει οὖν περὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ κράτιστος Κριτίας τάδε· τὸν δὲ γυναικείων μελέων πλέξαντα πότʼ ᾠδὰς ἡδὺν Ἀνακρείοντα Τέως εἰς Ἑλλάδʼ ἀνῆγεν, συμποσίων ἐρέθισμα, γυναικῶν ἠπερόπευμα, αὐλῶν ἀντίπαλον, φιλοβάρβιτον, ἡδύν, ἄλυπον. οὔ ποτέ σου φιλότης γηράσεται οὐδὲ θανεῖται, ἔς τʼ ἂν ὕδωρ οἴνῳ συμμιγνύμενον κυλίκεσσι παῖς διαπομπεύῃ, προπόσεις ἐπιδέξια νωμῶν, παννυχίδας θʼ ἱερὰς θήλεις χοροὶ ἀμφιέπωσιν, πλάστιγξ θʼ χαλκοῦ θυγάτηρ ἐπʼ ἄκραισι καθίζῃ κοττάβου ὑψηλαῖς κορυφαῖς Βρομίου ψακάδεσσιν.

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
