Ἀντιφάνης κωμῳδιοποιός, ἑταῖρε Τιμόκρατες, ὡς ἀνεγίνωσκέ τινα τῷ βασιλεῖ Ἀλεξάνδρῳ τῶν ἑαυτοῦ κωμῳδιῶν, δὲ δῆλος ἦν οὐ πάνυ τι ἀποδεχόμενος, δεῖ γάρ, ἔφησεν, βασιλεῦ, τὸν ταῦτα ἀποδεξόμενον ἀπὸ συμβόλων τε πολλάκις δεδειπνηκέναι καὶ περὶ ἑταίρας πλεονάκις καὶ εἰληφέναι καὶ δεδωκέναι πληγάς, ὥς φησι Λυκόφρων Χαλκιδεὺς ἐν τοῖς περὶ Κωμῳδίας ἡμεῖς οὖν τὸν περὶ ἐρωτικῶν λόγον ἐνταῦθα μέλλοντες κατατάττειν (ἐγένοντο γὰρ καὶ περὶ γαμετῶν καὶ ἑταιρῶν πολλάκις λόγοι) εἰδόσιν ἐκτιθέμενοι τὴν ἱστορίαν τῶν Μουσῶν τὴν Ἐρατὼ ἐπικαλεσάμενοι εἰς μνήμην ἡμῖν ἰέναι τὸν ἐρωτικὸν ἐκεῖνον κατάλογον, ἐντεῦθεν τὴν καταρχὴν ποιησόμεθα· εἰ δʼ ἄγε νῦν, Ἐρατώ, πάρ θʼ ἵστασο καί μοι ἔνισπε, τίνες λόγοι περὶ αὐτοῦ τοῦ ἔρωτος καὶ τῶν ἐρωτικῶν ἐλέχθησαν.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
