καὶ χαρίεις δʼ Ἀνακρέων φησίν· οὐ φιλέω ὃς κρητῆρι παρὰ πλέῳ οἰνοποτάζων νείκεα καὶ πόλεμον δακρυόεντα λέγῃ, ἀλλʼ ὅστις Μουσέων τε καὶ ἀγλαὰ δῶρʼ Ἀφροδίτης συμμίσγων ἐρατῆς μνήσεται εὐφροσύνης. καὶ Ἴων δὲ Χῖός φησιν· χαιρέτω ἡμέτερος βασιλεύς, σωτήρ τε πατήρ τε· ἡμῖν δὲ κρητῆρʼ οἰνοχόοι θέραπες κιρνάντων προχύταισιν ἐν ἀργυρέοις· δὲ χρυσὸς οἶνον ἔχων χειρῶν νιζέτω εἰς ἔδαφος. σπένδοντες δʼ ἁγνῶς Ἡρακλέι τʼ Ἀλκμήνῃ τε, Προκλέι Περσείδαις τʼ, ἐκ Διὸς ἀρχόμενοι, πίνωμεν, παίζωμεν, ἴτω διὰ νυκτὸς ἀοιδή, ὀρχείσθω τις, ἑκὼν δʼ ἄρχε φιλοφροσύνης. ὅντινα δʼ εὐειδὴς μίμνει θήλεια πάρευνος, κεῖνος τῶν ἄλλων κυδρότερον πίεται. ἐποιοῦντο δὲ καὶ οἱ ἑπτὰ καλούμενοι σοφοὶ συμποτικὰς ὁμιλίας. παραμυθεῖται γὰρ οἶνος καὶ τὴν τοῦ γήρως δυσθυμίαν φησὶ Θεόφραστος ἐν τῷ περὶ Μέθης

CTS URN Retriever

The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
