ΗΡΑΚΛΕΙΟΝ. Πείσανδρος ἐν δευτέρῳ Ἡρακλείας τὸ δέπας ἐν διέπλευσεν Ἡρακλῆς τὸν Ὠκεανὸν εἶναι μέν φησιν Ἡλίου, λαβεῖν δʼ αὐτὸ παρʼ Ὠκεανοῦ τὸν Ἡρακλέα. μήποτε δὲ ἐπεὶ μεγάλοις ἔχαιρε ποτηρίοις ἥρως, διὰ τὸ μέγεθος παίζοντες οἱ ποιηταὶ καὶ συγγραφεῖς πλεῖν αὐτὸν ἐν ποτηρίῳ ἐμυθολόγησαν. Πανύασις δʼ ἐν πρώτῳ Ἡρακλείας παρὰ Νηρέως φησὶ τὴν τοῦ Ἡλίου φιάλην κομίσασθαι τὸν Ἡρακλέα καὶ διαπλεῦσαι εἰς Ἐρύθειαν. ὅτι δὲ εἷς ἦν Ἡρακλῆς τῶν πλεῖστον πινόντων προείπομεν. ὅτι δὲ καὶ Ἥλιος ἐπὶ ποτηρίου διεκομίζετο ἐπὶ τὴν δύσιν Στησίχορος μὲν οὕτως φησίν· ἆμος δʼ Ὑπεριονίδας δέπας ἐσκατέβαινε χρύσεον, ὄφρα διʼ Ὠκεανοῖο περάσας ἀφίκοιθʼ ἱερᾶς ποτὶ βένθεα νυκτὸς ἐρεμνᾶς ποτὶ ματέρα κουριδίαν τʼ ἄλοχον πάιδάς τε φίλους, δʼ ἐς ἄλσος ἔβα δάφναισι κατάσκιον ποσὶν πάις Διός. καὶ Ἀντίμαχος δʼ οὑτωσὶ λέγει· τότε δὴ χρυσέῳ ἐν δέπαι Ἠέλιον πόμπευεν ἀγακλυμένη Ἐρύθεια. καὶ Αἰσχύλος ἐν Ἡλιάσιν· ἔνθʼ ἐπὶ δυσμαῖς ισου πατρὸς Ἡφαιστοτευχὲς δέπας, ἐν τῷ διαβάλλει πολὺν οἰδματόεντα πόντου φέρει δρόμου πόρον οὐθεις, μελανίππου προφυγὼν ἱερᾶς νυκτὸς ἀμολγόν.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
